RFD – RATCH sign MOU for carrying out “Love the Forest and the Community” project, phase 3 to support community forest conservation

Mr. Wijarn Simachaya (middle), Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, presided over the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony to carry out “Love the Forest and the Community” project, phase 3 (2018-2022). The two parties of this MOU include the Royal Forest Department (RFD) and Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited (RATCH). Mr. Charesak Nantawong (third from left), Deputy Director General and Acting Director General of RFD and Mr. Kijja Sripatthangkura (third from right), RATCH CEO are the signers in the ceremony. Meanwhile, Mrs. Amnuayporn Choldumrongkul (second from left), Department General Inspector; Mrs. Nuntana Boonyanant (left), the Director of Community Forest Management Bureau, Mrs. Boontiva Dansamasatid, RATCH Executive Vice President and Mr. Jatuporn Soparaksa (right) , Executive Vice President- New and Related Business also participated in the ceremony.

After the previous phases have been continued for about a decade, “Love the Forest and the Community” project, phase 3 will be carried out during 2018 – 2022 based on the concept of “planting forests in people’s mind.,” with an aim to encourage the local communities’ participation in forest conservation and management in terms of “community forest” to ensure sustainability and maximum benefit. The MOU for phase 3 covers four aspects of collaborations: 1. Organizing the community forest contest to commend communities for their efficient forest management to ensure sustainability. 2. Building community forest networks 3. Promoting the community forest management for sustainable development. 4. Publicizing relevant knowledge to increase people’s awareness on forest conservation.
