RATCH commenced its 11th solar farm,aiming for 200 MW renewable energy in 2016 Help reduce THB 2 billion from oil imports and 200,000 tons / annum CO2 emission

Bangkok: Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL (RATCH) announced today that Sai Saphan 2 Solar Farm, a 2-megawatt renewable project in Suphanburi, has successfully commenced production and distributed the electricity to Provincial Electricity.  The project marks RATCH's 11th solar farm under operation. The Company extends its target to achieve 200 megawatts of electricity generation from renewable energy by 2016.  

Mr. Noppol Milinthanggoon, RATCH's Chief Executive Officer stated that the Company puts its best effort to respond to the government's policy in promoting renewable energy for power production to help stabilize the country's power supply during peak period.  In addition, it can reduce  the fuel oil imports for electricity generation and CO2 emission, a cause of global warming. With our experience and expertise, we have achieved a number of solar, wind and biomass power projects leading us to assure that the 200 megawatt target will be accomplished in line with the Company's business plan.  Consequently, it will bring economic and social benefits to the country because fuel oil imports will be decreased approximately Baht 2 billion and the 200,000 tonnes per year of CO2 emission.    

To date, the Company's renewable energy capacity accounts 102.6 megawatts consisting of 24.16 megawatts from 11 solar farms, 74.51 megawatts from three wind farms, and 3.96 megawatts from a biomass project. 

The Sai Saphan 2 solar power project has been granted a non-firm power purchase agreement for renewable VSPP producer from PEA and entitled to a ten-year adder tariff at the rate of 8 baht per kilowatthours.
