RATCH Group injected 1.6 Billion Baht into 30-MW Expansion of RATCH Cogeneration power plant targeting industrial users in Nava Nakorn Industrial Promotion Zone by 2022

Nonthaburi - RATCH Group Public Company Limited (RATCH) announced the Baht 1.6 Billion investment in RATCH Cogeneration Power Plant's expansion of 30-MW generation capacity and 5.46 tons per hour of steam. It consequently results in the RATCH Cogenration's total generation capacity increase to 140 MWs and steam capacity to 15.46 tons per hour. The electricity from RATCH Cogeneration's expansion phase will be directly sold to industrial customers in Nava Nakorn Industrial Promotion Zone, Chum Num Subb Industrial Park, government agencies, and hospital in the vicinity of the power plant. The expansion project is expected to commence the commercial operation in 2022.

Mr. Kijja Sripatthankura, Chief Executive Officer of RATCH Group disclosed that this expansion project is undertaken after the acquisition of RATCH Cogeneration Power Plant (formerly named Nava Nakorn Electric) in October 2019. The power plant's area is surrounded by two industrial estates where production base of many multinational manufacturers are located. Also, in the vicinity there are government offices, educational institutions, and large-scale hospital. According to the project feasibility study, it is found significant increase of demand of electricity and steam consumption. In addition, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has already approved the proposal of the said capacity expansion. At present, this expansion project is under process of conducting the environmental impact assessment which is expected to be finalized and submitted to the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning by the end of this year.

"The expansion project will be funded by the Company at 25% of total investment and 75% will be project financing. The Company targets at least 10 industrial customers and initially we have entered into the memorandum of understanding with some certain prospect customers. The project will take approximately 18 months for construction and will be equipped with innovative technology developed by the Company that is flexible and well responded with prompt increase and reduce of electricity production without affecting the efficiency and stability of the power plant. Besides, it also helps reducing the fuel consumption and production costs. This project is one of the company's prides, not only it is beneficial to the economic dimension, but also have mutual benefits to environment and society at large," Mr. Kijja added.

RATCH Cogeneration Power Plant located at Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province is a small cogeneration power producer and used natural gas in firing generation. It is operated by RATCH Cogeneration Company Limited, RATCH's 99.97% subsidiary. At present, it has an installed capacity of 110 megawatts, of which 90 megawatts are sold to EGAT under the 25-year power purchase agreement (2013-2038), 10 MW are sold to the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), 6 MW to industrial customers in Nava Nakorn Industrial Promotion Zone, and 4 MW to Chum Num Subb Industrial Park. Ten ton per hour of steam is directly sold to industrial users in Nava Nakorn Industrial Promotion Zone.
