RATCH Group moves ahead 40-MW Independent Power Supply project, serving electricity to industrial customers in Nakorn Ratchasima

Nonthaburi - RATCH Group Public Company Limited reported that the 40-megawatt R E N Korat Energy Combined Cycle Power Plant, an Independent Power Supply (IPS) project located in the Nava Nakorn Industrial Zone, Nakhon Ratchasima province has been progressive. Under operation of R E N Korat Energy Company Limited (REN), a joint venture between RATCH Group, Nava Nakorn Public Company Limited (“Nava Nakorn”), and PEA ENCOM International Company Limited (“PEA ENCOM”) with equity holding of 40%, 35% and 25% respectively, the project will generate electricity and directly distribute to customers in Nava Nakorn Industrial Zone Ratchasima by 2023 according to commercial operation schedule. Currently, the project is underway of conducting environmental impact assessment report and plans to submit it to the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) for approval in August 2021. The project has been negotiating for electricity sale with various industrial manufacturers, while 115-22 Kilovolt (kV) sub-station is preparing for construction prior to connecting with the power plant’s distribution system and grid system of the Provincial Electricity Authority for transmitting power to industrial customers.

Mr. Kijja Sripatthangkura, Chief Executive Officer of RATCH Group Public Company Limited, said that the R E N Korat Energy power plant is the company's first IPS project with approximately 2.176 billion-baht values. To date, REN development has been advanced since 2019 where project’s feasibility study began following by study of environmental impact assessment in 2020 and then EIA report submission in August. Besides, the company is arranging to secure eco-friendly and high-efficient gas-fired co-generation technology as well as main equipment of the plant before starting the project construction in 2022.

The R E N Korat Energy project is an IPS that brings synergy of three partners, where RATCH has expertise in fossil and renewable power plant development, PEA ENCOM specializes in power transmission and distribution, and Nava Nakorn is keen in development and management of industrial estate implicating to number of the project’s customers if manufacturers in the estate increasing.

“Including R E N Korat Energy project, RATCH has eight under development and construction projects with 1,237-megawatts equity capacity. They will gradually commence commercial operation during 2021-2024 and help strengthen the company's revenues and financial stance. We intend to develop R E N Korat Energy project to be a model-pilot IPS for expansion further in other industrial estates that will help driving economic development according to National Strategy Plan,” Mr. Kijja concluded.
