“2016 Love the Forest and the Community” program invites applications for the national community forest contest to win HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's Trophy (Applications can be submitted until May 16, 2016.)

Bangkok (April 1, 2016) - The Royal Forest Department in collaboration with Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited (RATCH) have invited community forests nationwide to join the 2016 national community forest contest under the ‘Love the Forest and the Community’ program based on the concept of “Sustainable Forest for Benefit of Community.” Organized for nine consecutive years, this contest will search for the best community forest, with efficient forest management and development procedures to be a role model of other community forests. Applications can be submitted until May 16, 2016.

Awards under this program can be divided into the winner of national community forest  that will receive the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Trophy and a 200,000-baht Community Forest Conservation Fund; the three runner up national community forest award winners that will be each granted an honorary plaque and a 100,000-baht Community Forest Conservation Fund; the 68 provincial model community forest award winners that will receive a support fund of 25,000 baht ; and 68 consolation prize winners who will receive a support fund of 10,000 baht. The Royal Forest Department and RATCH also provide the best community forest award in the category of “Women volunteer for community forest development.” The top winner of this category will receive an honorary plaque and a 100,000-baht Community Forest Conservation Fund, whereas the three runner up winners in this category will receive a 25,000-baht Community Forest Conservation Fund. There are 144 prizes in total under this program.

Community forests that would like to be a part of ‘Klayim’ forest resource conservation network can contact and apply at the “Forest Resource Management offices nationwide” or download the application forms at www.forest.go.th or www.ratch.co.th.
