RFD & RATCH launched Community Forest Awards 2022 Seeking for the best national community in local forestry management

10 March 2022: The Royal Forest Department (RFD) and RATCH Group Public Company Limited (RATCH) cordially invite all registered community forests nationwide to participate in the 2022 community forest contest for winning the trophy of honour from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a reward of 200,000 baht. The contest organized by FRD and RATCH under the “Love the Forest and Community Program” is now open for application until 15 April 2022.

The application form is now available through following channels;

  • download at RFD’s website: www.forest.go.th and RATCH’s website: www.ratch.co.th,
  • request in person or call at the Bureau of Forest Resources in your location
  • call Bureau of Community Forest Management at 0 2561 4292-3 ext. 5654.

The Community Forest Awards 2022 consists of 16 prizes valued at 1,450,000 baht. Detail is following below;

  1. The National Community Forest Award, the winner entitles to receive the trophy of honor of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a reward of 200,000 baht.
  2. The Runner-up of the National Community Forest Award, three winners will receive an honorable trophy and a 150,000-baht prize each.
  3. The Regional Community Forest Award, four awardees to receive an honorable plaque and a 100,000-baht reward each.
  4. The Runner-up of the Regional Community Forest Award, four awardees to receive an honorable plaque and a 50,000-baht reward each
  5. The Rising Star of Community Forest Award (outstanding forestry development), four awardees to receive an honorable plaque and a 50,000-baht reward each

The selection criteria for seeking the community with forestry management excellence in the national and regional levels considerably include three main aspects; abundance and biodiversity of the forest, community participation and effectiveness in forestry management, and handling balance of forestry consumption and preservation or rehabilitation in sustainable ways. The rising star award will be selected the community who obviously have strong determination and progress in developing and preserving the forest, cooperation among all people in forestry management, and continuity of forestry rehabilitation for sustainability. The selection process will be taken from May to August and then the award winner announcement in September.
