Nonthaburi – RATCH Group Public Company Limited announces that the gas-fired RATCH Cogeneration’s expansion project with 31.20-MW generation capacity and 7.15-ton per hour steam production has started commercial operation today and consequent increase of RATCH Cogeneration’s total installed capacity to 150.95 megawatts and 17.15 tons per hour of steam production. Basically, 90-MW out of total capacity is dispatched to Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under the 25-year power purchase agreement, and the remaining is generated and sold to industrial customers expecting that additional capacity will enable to broaden its industrial customer base and enhance revenues of RATCH cogeneration, a wholly owned subsidiary. RATCH will realize the expansion project’s revenues for electricity sale in the first quarter of this year onwards.
Ms. Choosri Kietkajornkul, CEO of RATCH Group Public Company Limited said that RATCH Cogeneration’s additional capacity of 31.20-MW generation and 7.15-ton per hour steam production has been developed to support increasing power demand of industrial users following the economic recovery after the ease of COVID’19 pandemic and natural gas price volatility. Currently, 20-MW out of 31.20 MW of the expansion project has already entered the power purchase agreements with customers, meanwhile it also plans to increase power and steam users in Chumnumsup Industrial Zone and Nava Nakorn Industrial Promotion Zone.
“We are pleased with the success of RATCH Cogeneration’s expansion project which has already completed generation and distribution. This project has been equipped with highly efficient technology with flexibility system to respond to change in supply and demand any time and optimize fuel consumption, that can positively benefit RATCH Cogeneration in terms of production cost and reliability for its overall customers. More importantly, RATCH Cogeneration has put the best efforts in GHG emission reduction by minimizing it at better level required by laws. It also conducted monitoring and assessment of carbon footprint of the organization which has been certified by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) and will be used further for planning its GHG emission reduction,” Ms. Choosri added.
RATCH Cogeneration is a small power producer (SPP) in cogeneration-type, located in Pathum Thani province. In aspects of SPP investment, RATCH currently has interests in seven power plants located in Thailand, with a total equity capacity of 593.44 megawatts, of which the commercial generation capacity is 568.96 megawatts.
